Skyland Resort, first called Stony Man Camp, was founded in 1888 by George Freeman Pollock Jr. Pollock was a pioneer conservationist who was later instrumental in establishing Shenandoah National Park. He called the resort Skyland because of its lofty location near the highest point on the Skyline Drive.

Pollock chose the perfect spot for his summer retreat away from the heat of Washington, DC. At 3,680 feet - the highest point on Skyline Drive - he had breathtaking views of the Shenandoah Valley and cool mountain breezes. Skyland encompasses 36 acres in the Park with 28 buildings situated on 16 of those acres along the crests and wooded areas.

Peak fall weekend rates will be in effect on the following dates: May 22, 23 & 24, July 2, 3 & 4, Sept. 4, 5 & 6 and Nov. 26, 27 & 28, 2009.
All rates based on single/double occupancy. A $2.50 utility pass-through will be added to room rate, per room, per night. This fee is to help recover the cost of utilities in the Park. The price of utilities is much higher in remote elevated locations such as Shenandoah. Rates at Skyland Resort subject to 5% state tax and 4% occupancy tax.
Each additional person $11.00. Roll-away bed $11.00. $25.00/pet per night.
