Team Building

meet_meetings3

Skyland works with the staff at Teamlink, Inc. who has developed an array of high-energy programs focusing on cohesion, communication, flexibility and problem-solving. From as short as 90 minutes to as long as an entire day, these professionally coordinated exercises combine fun and friendly competition to boost morale and productivity.

Some of the popular team building activities are:

  • T1 Challenges - The baseline for all other programs, these activities are appropriate for all staff, from CEO to facilities maintenance. From simple verbal communication challenges to complex asset management problems these are activities developed by us for their effectiveness, fun and applicability to “professional behavioral demands”. Generally lasting from 4 to 6 hours, these activities focus on the way work groups relate to each other both as individuals and as a group collectively. Normally, T1 Challenges are stand alone training days designed to focus on all aspects of work group / team development.

The results from both newly (re)organized and long established work groups are the same. The activities are memorable, fun, meaningful and typically move team cohesiveness ahead by weeks if not months. Highly portable, appropriate for both indoors and outdoors.
  • Adventure Pursuits - These are a natural! Working with the  staff from Shenandoah Mountain Guides, these adventure challenges are perfect for corporate outings and team growth… the training and outcomes are similar to theT1 programs,  but the experience is not as “skill focused”. The training is part of a journey of adventure!
  • Rock climbing - Requiring more trust than muscle, this is much more of a psychological challenge than a physical challenge. The bonds of trust, anxiety and shared challenge build camaraderie that is legendary. Not a huge physical challenge, it does require a positive spirit and adventurous attitude. (Limited to 20 participants, April thru October)
  • Hiking - A guided hike to a remote Blue Ridge summit is another low to medium impact way of building camaraderie and team spirit. Our guides can help you select the perfect mountain, route and time (sunrise, midday, sunset, moonlight) for your trip.  (Limited to 30 participants, year round* based on weather)

Retreats

meet_wedding_social.jpgThe conference building at Skyland Resort offers spaciousness and lodge-like ambiance with meeting rooms that accommodate groups of 20 to 80.  Basic audio-visual equipment and presentation tools are included.  The absence of Wi-fi only enhances the natural setting of this environment.  If you need to stay connected, most wireless network cards work from the lodge rooms and in the meeting room.  We do have free hi-speed internet available in the registration office lobby.

Family Reunions

Testimonials

"Our group very much enjoyed holding our Senior Management Retreat at the Big Meadows Lodge in September 2011.  All of our managers expressed their delight with the inspiring location.  The meeting room was great—it made it very difficult to concentrate with the view outside the windows!  The deer bounding by were an added bonus!  Additionally, we rarely left the Lodge for three days, and the food and entertainment offered were exceptional.  The prices were extremely affordable, compared to our other option of holding the retreat downtown DC.  Staff was very courteous and extremely helpful.  Our attendees agreed that they would love to return next year.   Thanks for a great experience! "
