Skyland Resort, located at mile 41.7 on Skyline Drive, was founded in 1888 by George Freeman Pollock Jr. Pollock, who chose the perfect spot for his summer retreat at 3,680 feet, with breathtaking views of the Shenandoah Valley and cool mountain breezes. Skyland Resort encompasses 36 acres in the Shenandoah National Park with 28 buildings situated on 16 of those acres along the crests and wooded areas.
